Bridging Histories, Transforming Perspectives

A Berlin Seminar for Israelis and Germans
from 27 October to 03 November 2024

How are we affected by our past? How do we want to deal with it now? How do we find our freedom? (Victor Frankl)

In the heart of Berlin we invite you on a journey of personal discovery, shared dialogue, and transformative creative expression. This seminar brings Israelis and Germans together whose lives are touched by historical and present trauma. Experts in psychology and education from both countries come together, to exchange their expertise and benefit from the perspective of the “other”. Through the power of storytelling, creative writing and art we will build bridges of understanding, and find artistic ways to engage with the complexities of actual events, history, memory, and identity.

What can you expect:

  • Diving into shared narratives, guided by facilitators and experts in writing and art therapy.
  • Experiencing historical Berlin’s scars and stories firsthand, and weaving them into your creative exploration.
  • Engaging in workshops designed to unlock your voice through poetry, prose, and other forms of art
  • Building trust and connection with fellow participants in a safe and supportive environment, forging bonds across cultural and generational divides.
  • Getting impulse lectures from professionals in Art/Therapy/Education
  • Sharing your own work in a culminating reading or show.

This seminar is for you if:

  • You are an Israeli or German individual seeking to explore your own personal or familial connections to historical or present trauma.
  • You are curious about engaging with creative writing / art as a tool for self-discovery and dialogue.
  • You are open to encountering diverse perspectives and building meaningful connections with individuals from a different cultural background.
